The denny ship model experiment tank -1

A ship model experiment tank, used for testing models of hulls and propellers to see how their full-sized equivalents would behave
The tank and its equipment were originally built in 1882. An extension was built after the Second World War, to house propeller testing equipment and staff
It was the first facility of its kind in the world to be used for testing models of merchant-ship hulls. Its use give the owners, William Denny and Brothers, a competitive edge in building fast passenger vessels. It was used to test models of several yachts being designed to challenge for the America’s Cup. In recent years it has been used by Strathclyde University to test the stability of car ferries in emergency conditions.
